Mary Jane Potter, 66, of St. Paul died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Pastor Dave Scrabeck will officiate. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Donor’s Choice.

Mary Jane was born July 28, 1945 at Hazard, Nebraska to Charles Floyd & Anna Rosabell (Standlea) Griffin.

She grew up in various towns where she attended schools. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1964. She then attended some college.

Mary Jane was united in marriage to LeRoy Potter on September 28, 1964 in Lee Summit, Missouri.

To this union three daughters were born, Tenley, Tonya and Tammy.

She worked as a telephone operator shortly after her marriage.

She then was employed at the Howard County Medical Center and the Howard County Sherriff’s Office before going to work at ConAgra as an EMT in the Health Service Department. Thereafter, she went back to work at the Sherriff’s office in HowardCounty.

Mary Jane enjoyed playing cards, gambling, traveling, flowers and gardening especially vegetables. She also enjoyed her time on her computer and compiling pictures on it.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, LeRoy of St. Paul; three daughters & sons-in-law, Tenley and David Jansen of Central City, NE, Tonya & Martin Denton of Holdrege, NE, and Tammy & Timothy Sheehan of Central City, NE; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, John Griffin, Wilson Griffin, Ervin Griffin and Danny Griffin; sisters, Norma Jean Schlegal, Rose Hendon, Karen Joan Rynolds and Nyla Gaye.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles Floyd Griffin II and one sister Ellena Louise Freeman.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Jane was very special. I know how hard this is but just remember
    she is cancer free pain free and is looking down on you all. She will be missed by everyone. I have memories of summer time and lots of christmas’s gone by with you all memories are so precious. May god give each of you strength

    Mary Jane was a great person. She will be missed. She trained me in dispatch at the Howard County 911 Center and I still tell people how great a trainer she was. My prayers go out to the family. Mary Jane is now at peace and with our Lord and Savior in heaven. The greatest place to be.
