Welcome to the memorial page for

Ada M. (Pedersen) Goering

November 15, 1927 ~ June 29, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Ada M. Pedersen-Goering, 88, of Fort Collins, Colorado died Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in St Paul.  The Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, a Hospice Care organization of the donor’s choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ada was born November 15, 1927, in Dannevirke to Marius and Marie (Pedersen) Mickelsen.

Ada went to a rural school near Dannevirke and graduated at the top of her class. She came from a large, loving family and shared countless adventures with her siblings; stories that make family members laugh to this day.

First husband, Donald Pedersen, was smitten when he saw Ada toiling in the potato patch and the two eventually eloped — not really sure she was in a potato patch, but Don certainly loved that story. They enjoyed 60 years together and nothing put a twinkle in Don’s eye quite like getting Ada all fired up.

Ada helped Don with their trucking company while living in St. Paul. They sold the business when the family moved to Denver in 1965. After settling in Denver, Ada went to work at the Rocky Mountain News. She retired in 1992 and the couple moved back to St. Paul.

Ada cared for her husband through a long illness and his passing left an immense void until Don Goering, an old friend of the Mickelsen family, knocked on her door. Don won her heart; the two were married and eventually ended up in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ada felt blessed to have found love for a second time and was grateful for every day they shared together.

Ada was dearly loved by her family and will be missed “till the cows come home.”

Survivors include her husband, Don Goering of Fort Collins, Colorado.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Marjean Pedersen of Thornton, Colorado. and Nick Pedersen and Susie Wolfert of St. Paul; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Brent Higgins of St. Petersburg, Florida; four step daughters and spouses, Sandra and Jim Fuller of Sheridan, Wyoming, Sherri Goering of Loveland, Colorado., Cindy and Jim Vandenbark of Fleming, Colorado and Wendy and Don Dudley of Sterling, Colorado; five sisters and spouses, Ann Meyer of Hastings, Nebraska; Louise and Jack McIntyre of Wolbach, Helen Meyer of Fort Collins, Colorado, June Wadas of Johnstown, Colorado, Dorothy and Larry Jones of Omaha, Nebraska; and one sister-in-law, Geraldine Mickelsen Hodges of Wheatland, Wyoming.  Additional survivors include 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Pedersen; parents; three brothers, Einer, Miner, & Earl Mickelsen; four sisters, Eva Larsen, Elda Miller, Mary Christensen and Joy Glines; seven brothers-in-law, Andy Larsen, Chester Miller, Elmer Christensen, Harold Glines, Darwin Meyer, Ray Wadas and Ray Meyer; and four sisters-in-law, Lola Mickelsen, Pearl Shrinner, Alyce Thayer and Lola Smith.
