December 23, 1925 ~ November 11, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

     

          Allen C. Keep, 90, of St. Paul formerly of Scotia died Friday, November 11, 2016 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

          Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Scotia.  Reverend Toni Nolze will officiate.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia with military honors by the Rueben Beck American Legion Post of Scotia.

          Visitation will be on Monday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

          Memorials are suggested to the Scotia Methodist Church, Scotia Fire Department or the Alzheimer’s Association.

          Mr. Keep was born December 23, 1925 on the family farm northeast of Cotesfield to Charles and Bertha (Tatlow) Keep.

          Allen attended grade school at Riverside District 5 in Howard County.  He attended Cotesfield High School for a year before finishing high school in Scotia, graduating in 1943.

          He farmed with his father until entering the U.S. Army in 1945.  He served a lot of his time in the service in Italy.  After receiving his discharge, he farmed with his father for a year.

          On May 27, 1948, he married Mildred Puncochar in St. Paul.

Three children were born to this union, Marge, Roger and Greg.  The family resided on the family farm until 1984 when they moved to their new home in Scotia.

          Allen was very active in community activities, serving on numerous

 boards and committees.  He is a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church, serving on the committee when the present church was built.  He is also a member of the Rueben Beck American Legion Post in Scotia.

          Allen enjoyed farming and caring for livestock, especially cattle.  He also like to hunt along the North Loup river on the edge of his farm.

          Allen liked to travel, taking Mildred to Europe where they visited several places he had been stationed while in the Army.

          His first wife, Mildred died October 26, 1996.

          Allen was united in marriage to Betty Jonak in Scotia in 1998.  Allen and Betty traveled to the New England states where they enjoyed the fall colors and Allen could visit where many of his ancestors had settled in the Pennsylvania and New York areas.

          Survivors include his wife, Betty of St. Paul; a daughter, Marge Keep of Lincoln; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Gwen Keep of Blair, and Gwen’s four daughters, 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson and Greg and Vicki Keep of Cotesfield; four grandchildren and spouses, Elizabeth and Justin Killinger of Wolbach, Amanda and Todd Filipi of Miniatare, Ben and Jamie Keep of Scotia and Monica and Matt Macoubrie of Lincoln; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Don Rasmussen of Hastings; six step children, Gary and Janet Kuszak, Janelle Epp and Steve Schroeder, Daryl and Mitzi Kuszak, Janietta and Mark Badura, Joleen and Alan Lewandowski and Jeri and Marv Mendyk; 20 step grandchildren; and 28 step great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Roberta (Bobbi Jean) Panowicz of Ravenna; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; a special family member, Rudy Stoehr; two brothers, Vernum and Leonard; and three sisters, Lois, Cida and Dorothy.
