April 20, 1924 ~ August 18, 2015 (age 91) 91 Years Old

          C. Cecil Clausen, 91, of rural Boelus died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

          Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at the First Baptist Church Family Center in Dannebrog.  Reverends Brian Pielstick and Pat Moore will officiate.  Interment will be in Kelso Cemetery near Farwell with military honors by Schipman Mogensen American Legion Post 201 of Boelus.

          Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Family and Friends sharing time at 7:00 p.m. at the church in Dannebrog.

          Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Christian School or New Hope Christian School.

          Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

          Mr. Clausen was born April 20, 1924 on the family farm near Boelus to George and Gertrude (Klausen) Clausen.

          He was raised on the farm 3 miles north of Boelus when as a young boy his father died and the family moved into Boelus.  He attended school in Boelus and graduated from Boelus High School in 1942.

          Cecil then worked at the Bremerton Ship Yards in Washington State for a short time.

          He returned to the Boelus area to farm.

          He was united in marriage to Glenrose Obermiller on February 27, 1944 at her parent’s farm north of Boelus.

          Cecil entered the United States Navy in 1944 where he served until World War II ended.  He returned to the farm near Boelus where he continued to farm and lived for the rest of his life.

          Cecil was innovative, designing and building a dairy barn where he operated a Grade A dairy for about 15 years.  He was one of the first to have an irrigation well on his farm. 

          Cecil also did land leveling for about 10 years when the Farwell Irrigation District was developed. 

          He took care of his wife, Glenrose for the last couple of years of her life when her health was failing.

          Glenrose died on November 14, 2005.

          Cecil was united in marriage to Anita Pedersen on May 6, 2012 at the Harvest Time Baptist Church in Grand Island.

          Cecil enjoyed reading and he was a very strong supporter of Missions and Christian organizations.

          He was a born again Christian and was dedicated to his church and the activities of the church.

          He was a member of the Harvest Time Baptist Church in Grand Island and the Schipman Mogensen American Legion Post 201 of Boelus.  He had served on the Boelus School Board and served on the Nebraska Christian School Board of Education and Advisory Board for many years.

          Survivors include his wife, Anita of Boelus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dallas and Marilyn Clausen of Springfield, Oregon and Douglas and Kathy Clausen of Boelus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Stan Jensen of Dannebrog and Valerie and Robin Friesen of Henderson; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Hans Clausen, Eric Clausen, Jonathon Clausen, Christi and Steve (Jensen) Hiebner, Cara and Russ (Jensen) Francl, Jocelyn and Dave (Clausen) Cochran, Jordyn and Rebecca Clausen, Bailey Friesen, and McKenna Friesen; 15 great- grandchildren, Taylor, Brittan, Maxwell, Payge, Jackson, Leilah, Georgeh, Minnie, Noah, Eli, Faith, Gabriel, Tyus, Ella and Zion; two step sons and spouses, Randall and Nancy Pedersen of Royal, NE and Monty Pedersen  of Grand Island; and a step-daughter and spouse, Barbara and John Holum of Annapolis, MD.

          He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Glenrose; an infant grandson, John Mark Clausen; and two sisters, Georgia Loutfallah and Fay Wall.
