          David A. Redding, 55, of Cotesfield died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at CHI St. Francis in Grand Island surrounded by his family.

          Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate.  Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia.

          There will not be any visitation as Mr. Redding was cremated.

          Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

          Mr. Redding was born January 3, 1961 in Grand Island to Eugene and Ethel (Clement) Redding.

          David attended Wood River Schools where he graduated in 1979.

          He was united in marriage to Sandi Davis in 1979 in Wood River.

          He continued to live in Wood River where he owned and operated a café, C.J.’s Food and Fun.  He was employed for several years at DMF Trailer in Alda and then for the last four years he was employed at Rock Hard 4x4 in St. Paul.

          David was a welder for most of his working life. 

          Family was a very important part of David’s life.  He was a good father, son, grandfather and brother.  He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.

          He loved to go fishing and he was good at catching the big catfish at Johnson’s Lake.  He enjoyed other outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, canoeing and even taking part in canoe races.

          He also liked to play poker.

          Survivors include three sons, Cody Redding of Cotesfield, David Redding and Cory Redding, both of Grand Island; a daughter, Taylor McManus of Kearney; two grandchildren, Darrin McManus of Kearney and Xander Redding of Grand Island; his parents, Eugene and Ethel Redding of Cotesfield; two brothers, Jerry Redding and his wife, Joan of Alda and Steve Redding and Frances of Wood River; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sherry and Brad Desel of Wood River and Jeannie Redding of Yuma, CO; numerous nieces and nephews who he loved very much and a special friend, Nancy Davis of Grand Island.  He is also survived by his five special cats, Noodles, Grendel, Ossie Moto, Abby and Timmy. 

         He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Josh and Elsie Clement and John and Leota Redding.
