Donald D. Glinsmann

Donald D. Glinsmann, 77, of Ord died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Valley View Senior Village in Ord.

          Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord.  Reverend Glenda Pearson will officiate.

          There will not be any visitation, Mr. Glinsmann’s wish was to donate his body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.

          A family inurnment will be held at a later date.

          Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

          Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

          Mr. Glinsmann was born March 23, 1938 in Loup City to P.F.A. and Laura (Obermiller) Glinsmann.

          He was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City.

Don was raised at Ashton and attended Ashton Public Schools.  He graduated in 1956 as valedictorian from Ashton High School.

          He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 – 1959.  Upon receiving his discharge from the Navy, he returned to the Ashton area where he farmed.

          Don was united in marriage to Rachel (Peterson) Williams on June 20, 1973 in Lake Andes, SD.

          Don loved to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also to visit with people.  He was a man of great faith and believed in the power of prayer.

          Survivors include his wife Rachel of Ord; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donny and Melissa Glinsmann of Wolbach, David and E.J. Williams of Ord, and Roger and Monica Williams of St. Paul; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Mike Fox of Ord; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters-in-law, Alvin and Marian Glinsmann of Rapid City, SD, David and Arlene Glinsmann and Wendell and Frances Glinsmann, all of Rockville, Virginia Glinsmann of Loup City and Darlene Glinsmann of Luzerne, IA; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruby and Dallas Niederslein of Tobias, NE Shirley Ficken of Elkhorn and Ethel and Dale Rasmussen of Windsor, CO.

         He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ervin and Merle Glinsmann; and a brother-in-law, Gene Ficken.
