          LaRoy A. Bell, 86, of St. Paul died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

          Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul

          Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

          Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

          LaRoy was born April 23, 1931 in Hammon, Oklahoma to Frank U. and Samanthia R. (Denton) Bell.

          LaRoy was raised and attended school in Hammon.        

          After his schooling, he worked on a line crew for the Union Pacific Railroad.  A job working for the government building grain bins moved him to Nebraska.

          He met his future wife, Doris at the Knothe’s Café in St. Paul.

          LaRoy served in the United State Army, serving in Korea.  He received his discharge with the rank of Sargent.

          He returned to St. Paul where he again dated Doris.  They were united in marriage on October 14, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cushing.

          The couple lived in St. Paul where LaRoy worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads until 1975 when he became disabled.

          LaRoy loved to hunt and fish.  He also gardened, did leathercraft work and liked to travel in RV’s.

          He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119, both of St. Paul.  He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

          Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Sherry Bell of St. Paul; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gary McCray of Grand Island; four granddaughters, Mandy Anderson, Haley Pribnow, Jenna Wilshusen and her husband, Andrew and Jamie McCray; five great grandchildren, McKenna, Miranda, Matthew, Mason and McKade; one sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Karl Klick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a brother-in-law, Dale Scheibe of Kalona, Iowa.

          He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris on March 17, 1994; seven brothers, and two sisters.
