Marilyn M. Fisher

          Marilyn M. Fisher, 67, of St. Paul died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

          A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Parkside Plaza Community Room, 420 Jay St. in St. Paul.  There will be a time to share fellowship and memories of Marilyn.  Pastor Doug Olson will take part in the celebration.

          Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

          Mrs. Fisher was born March 24, 1949 in St. Paul to Kenneth and Ella (Merta) Swanson.         

          She was raised in St. Paul and attended St. Paul Schools where she graduated in 1967.

          Marilyn was united in marriage to Gerald Hansen in June 1968 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Dannebrog.  The couple lived on farms in the Nysted and Farwell areas.  During that time Marilyn was a homemaker, raising her family.

          In the early 1970’s she and her family moved to Grand Island where she worked as a Home Care Worker and also as a correction officer in Hall County.

          Marilyn moved to St. Paul in 2002 and continued to live there for the remainder of her life.

          Marilyn was very active, enjoying a number of activities including painting ceramics and figurines, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, baking, making candy, playing bingo, doing word search puzzles and playing cards at Parkside Plaza where she lived.  She also like to go camping and raise flowers, especially mums.

          She loved to attend her grandchildren’s activities.  Marilyn like to remember occasions by having pictures of those events.  She was active in the school program of grandparents helping young students at St. Paul High School.

          Marilyn was baptized in the Lutheran Faith.

          Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Shannon Landholm of Rockville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Melanie Hansen of St. Paul and Robert and Jody Lawrence of Ord; eight grandchildren, Preston Lavender of Hampton, Matthew, Owen and Trenton Hansen of St. Paul, Johnny, Savannah and Alyssa Lawrence of Ord and Dayanera Anderson of Palmer; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Ines Swanson of St. Paul; a sister, Kay Butler and her daughter Tasha of Alda; and nieces and nephews.

          Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.
