Rose Lee Novotny

          Rose Lee Novotny, 79, of St. Paul died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

          Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate.  Inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Ord City Cemetery.

          There will not be any visitation, Mrs. Novotny’s wishes were to be cremated.

          Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Senior Center or the donor’s choice.

Rose Lee was born February 20, 1936 at the home of her grandparents in Ord to Charley and Rose (Vodehnal) Visek,

          Mrs. Novotny attended Longwood Country School through the 8th grade and graduated from Comstock High School in 1954.  She then attended the Grand Island Business College.

          Rose Lee worked at the Farmer’s Union Co-op at Sargent for 4 ½ years.

She was united in marriage to Franklin Novotny on September 10, 1960.

The couple made their home in Elba and Rose Lee was a secretary and bookkeeper for the Elba Public School for 31 years, retiring in 1998. 

She was also employed by the St. Paul Senior Center as a care giver, Jack and Jill and she did volunteer work at the St. Paul Senior Center.

Rose Lee was a member of the WFLA Lodge #112 of Ord for over 70 years and the Christmas Card Club.

She enjoyed quilting, crafts, dancing, fishing, working outside, listening to polka music and being around people.

Survivors include her special friend, Rollie Gibson of St. Paul; a sister, Hilda Knick of Grand Island; special cousin, Virgil Simoens of Greeley, CO and many cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and cousins, Karen Jean Simoens and Pam Simoens.
