Gladys was born to Leslie C. and Nellie (Gydesen) Wilson on July 12, 1925, in Scotia, NE.  She grew up and received her education in North Loup, NE. She was united in marriage to George C. “Buck” Hiett on March 9, 1946, in Ord, NE.  They lived in St. Paul until 1966, and then moved to Scotia where they owned Scotia Hardware which they operated with their sons, Mike and Jim.  Her hobbies included walking, biking, playing Rummikub and canasta, doing word search puzzles, collecting recipes, and cooking and baking.  She will forever be remembered for her wonderful meals and baked goods.  However, her greatest loves were dancing, mowing the lawn, music, washing windows and her family. She also loved Christmas.  She was known to have a servant’s heart and truly loved helping others.

Gladys was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Scotia having served many years on the funeral and communion committees.  She was baptized on December 16, 1959, at the First Methodist Church in St. Paul and was active there prior to moving to Scotia.  She was also an active and proud member of the Scotia American Legion Auxiliary Post #150. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Scotia bloodmobiles.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sharon Hiett of Scotia; brother, Floyd Wilson of Elba; grandchildren, Kristen Hiett of Scotia, Kevin (Selena) Hiett of Bennet, NE, and Doug Hiett; great-grandchild, Kylie Hiett of Bennet; several nieces and nephews.
