Grief Support

Caring for yourself is not selfish. The period of recovery is different for every person. There is no timetable for grief, so don’t compare yourself with others who have lost loved ones. Your life has changed and healing in your own way is important for the health of your mind, body and spirit. It’s normal for some days to be better than others.

At Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home and Greenway Funeral Home, we strive to provide the resources to help you with the grief process. Please contact the funeral home to help guide you towards the information, support, or counseling options you may need.

Should you prefer an online source of grief resources; the following link will also provide you with sound information to help you manage your feelings and emotions at this most difficult time.

“Though grief is a natural and necessary process, it’s also an extraordinarily difficult one. We’re here to help mourners and those who care for them.”

Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., Director

Doug Manning

Since 1978, Doug Manning has dished out his gentle wisdom with compassion and conviction leading him to become a best-selling author, sought-after speaker and a grief expert relied on by the media. His calling as an author and lecturer began after serving as a pastor and counselor for 30 years in churches in Oklahoma and Texas. He had grown increasingly concerned at the lack of knowledge and comfort that he and his fellow ministers had to offer to families when a loved one died and began to study the concept of grieving and the role that the funeral played in assisting a healthy grief journey and recovery.

Compassionate Friends

Grief Support After the Death of a Child

“The Compassionate Friends is about transforming the pain of grief into the elixir of hope. It takes people out of the isolation society imposes on the bereaved and lets them express their grief naturally. With the shedding of tears, healing comes. And the newly bereaved get to see people who have survived and are learning to live and love again.”

—Simon Stephens, founder of The Compassionate Friends

Through a network of more than 625 chapters with locations in all 50 states, as well as Washington DC and Puerto Rico, The Compassionate Friends has been supporting bereaved families after the death of a child for four decades.
