Aileen E. Rawlings

February 22, 1931 ~ July 30, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

          Aileen E. Rawlings, 86, of St. Paul died Sunday, July 30, 2017 in St. Paul.

          Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul.  Pastor Paul Canady will officiate.  Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m., at the Archer Evangelical Community Cemetery southwest of Archer.

          Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

          Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

          Aileen was born February 22, 1931 near Palmer to Albert and Esther (Zlomke) Rudolf.

          She lived near Palmer until 1936 when the family moved to a farm southwest of Archer.  In 1945, they moved back onto the farm of her grandparents southwest of Palmer.

          Aileen attended Merrick County rural schools, Districts 44 and 58.  She first attended high school in Archer and then graduated from Central City High School in 1948. 

          She taught school in Merrick County for two years.

          Aileen was united in marriage to Jack Rawlings on November 20, 1949 at the Archer Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church.

          The couple lived southwest of Archer until moving to St. Paul in 1960 where they continued to live for the remainder of their lives.

          She enjoyed doing genealogy, flowers, traveling, doing crafts with her children when they were young and sewing.

          Aileen was confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Church in Archer and was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Paul.  She served on the Senior Citizens Board in St. Paul in 1989 and on the Sonderup Foundation Board in 1991.

          Survivors include six children and four spouses, Leslie Rawlings of St. Paul, Wendy and Larry Graff of Farwell, Terry and Alma Rawlings of Grand Island, Laura and Allen Horak of Grand Island, Gayle Rawlings of Kearney and Michael and Liz Rawlings of St. Paul; 21 grandchildren with 13 being married; and 26 great-grandchildren with the last being born on the day Aileen passed away.  She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sandy Rudolf of St. Charles, IA and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lavonne Rudolf of St. Paul, Loretta Rudolf of Hastings, Leota Baird of Raleigh, NC, Delores and Gerald Gleason of Lincoln, John Oren and Janie Rawlings of Apex, NC, Joyce Rawlings of Spearfish, SD, Arlene and Wayne Kirk of Little Rock, AR and Cecil and Pam Rawlings of Lincoln.

          She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack on January 8, 2009; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cecil and Mildred Rawlings; two daughters-in-law, Connie & Janice Rawlings; two brothers, Ralph and Wayne Rudolf; an infant sister, Shirley Rudolf; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Baird and Wendell Rawlings.
