          Helen F. Wegner, 94, of Archer died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

          Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.  Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.

          Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church.

          Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Rose Hill Cemetery

          Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.

          Helen was born December 10, 1922 in Palmer to Gus and Sophia (Peters) Schlueter.

          She was raised in Palmer and attended grade school at District 41 and Palmer High School where she graduated in 1940.  Helen then attended St. Paul Business College.

          After her schooling, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the War Production Board.

          She returned to Palmer where she was married to Dale Wegner on June 30, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.

          The couple moved to a farm between Palmer and Archer where they farmed for all of their lives.

          Helen also worked at the Archer Grain Elevator for approximately 20 years before her retirement.

          She moved to Brookefield Park in St. Paul in July 2014.

          Her husband Dale died on October 26, 2016.

          Helen enjoyed hosting many family events and loved to attend her grandchildren’s events.  She liked to garden, go camping and boating, and go to casinos.  She was a very good cook.  Helen bowled for many years and played pitch.  She was an avid Husker fan, enjoying watching or listening to all the Nebraska games.

          Helen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of Palmer, the Chat and Nibble Club, Ideal Extension Club and the Burton Beyer American Legion Auxiliary of Palmer.

          Survivors include three granddaughters and spouses, Andrea and Jamie Halladay of North Bend, Kristin Nicholas of Archer and Victoria and Lynsey Moline of Blair; five great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Alaina & Ava Halladay and Kane and Kellen Kucera; and a son-in-law, Bob Nicholas of Palmer.

          She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; a daughter, Margaret Nicholas; four brothers, Otto, John, Alfred (Pete) and Gus Schlueter and a sister, Marie Goerl.
