Dan, Marsha, and Sandy,

My deepest sympathies to you and your families for the recent loss of your mom and dad. They were both warm memories from my childhood from the frequent stops at the grocery story and church. Both were good and passionate community leaders.

Specific memories of your dad: his soft blue eyes, warm ornery and friendly greetings that were accompanied by his wavy locks of hair.

Again, so sorry for your large family loss.

Sandy, Marcia, Dan, and Families:
So sad to hear about your mom and now recently the death of your dad. I have so many good memories of how kind and caring your parents were to me as a child, what wonderful role models they were in our small community, and the fun of going to the grocery store where Ray was always so welcoming. What a forward thinking man to start the Healthy Woman, where even now when I go back to my small, hometown I can go and work out. What blessings both your parents were. Still missing my dad so I know the sadness you feel - prayers are with you all.
With Sympathy,
Annette (Lauritsen) Rasmussen

I was saddened to hear that Ray has passed. Ray and Shirley were such a presence in Dannebrog. They both were such good people. Carol

Many years ago we moved to Dannebrog as a young couple with a small child, Ray was very welcoming to us, an unofficial ambassador promoting kindness and Dannebrog . He always had a smile on his face and was positive, encouraging, and helpful, someone for us to look up to. He always had time to speak with us. When the grocery store was on the west side of street from where it is now he would always say if there is something you need and it is not on the shelf let me know and I will get it for you. We had a friend in town right from the start.
We were beginning a construction service and Ray always had some project that he hired us to complete for him. He really was a believer in supporting local business. Ray and Shirley were fine examples of politeness and civic responsibility. They were such good town boosters and did so many things to support Dannebrog over the years. We truly miss them. We have fond memories of both of them and are blessed from God from knowing them.

To Dan, Marcia/Bill, Sandra & families,
I just wanted to tell you that your parents touched many people in and around Dannebrog in a positive way. Now they are together again and have left many good memories to all of us. Keep smiling as they always did.
Sincerely,
Ray Swanson

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss…our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

I will never forget when I was growing up and would go into the grocery store almost daily and see Ray. He was such a wonderful guy. He would grab me and give me a hug everytime he would see me. Sorry for your loss you are all in our thoughts. Bev (Fieldgrove) Slagle

Dan, Marcia and Sandy:
I noticed the passing of your father in the Grand Island paper and I felt I should say something to you about how nice a man he was to me. I took my children to the Dannebrog golf course several years ago to experience sand green golf. When we finished the round and stopped at the clubhouse, your father was there (which I am sure would not be a surprise to you) and he came over to our table and had a nice visit. In addition to you and your father, the entire Johnson family (including Dale, Dave and Bob) have always been very kind to me and I wanted to say thank you for that. I am very sorry to hear of your loss.
