Linda was born October 23, 1949 in Central City to Richard “Richie” and LaVonne (Jacobs) Nielsen. She was raised and attended schools in St. Paul and “Din”, as her classmates lovingly called her, graduated from St. Paul High school in 1967.

Following school, Linda was first employed at Shaughnessy Law Office in St. Paul.

She was united in marriage to Jim Sidel and two children, Jason James and Staci Lyn, were born to this union.

Linda worked for Twin Loups as an office manager from 1985 until 2015. Following her employment with Twin Loups, Linda greatly enjoyed her retirement

On October 17th, 1986 she married Gary Lassen.  A daughter, Jessi Lyn, was born to Linda and Gary.

Linda had a passion and love for flowers of all types. Gary would frequently bring Linda many “Supermarket” flowers, which Linda loved regardless of the price. Linda’s passion for flowers was obvious in her beautiful backyard, where she planted her favorites.

She also enjoyed relaxing with candles, had a love for turtles, and a appreciation for all types music. She frequently could be found with a candle lit and music playing.

Family, especially the grandchildren, was the most important part of Linda’s life.  She loved to attend their events and was always very proud of each and every one of them.  She also thoroughly enjoyed watching volleyball and kept the volleyball books at St. Paul for many years.

Linda loved to be around people and had an amazing ability to always see the good in people.  Rarely could a person spend time with her without laughing. She was called the “keeper”, because she loved keeping everyone informed about what was happening. She loved sending letters and keeping in touch with friends and family, always signing with her signature smiley face.

One of Linda’s favorite pastimes was reading and having coffee or tea on her patio, enjoying her backyard and fountain. The fountain, a gift given to her by friends and family, brought her much happiness. She said, “Every time I sit outside, I get tears in my eyes and smile. I just love it and I think of all the people that helped make a dream come true. Such a great gift of love”

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  Linda was a person who wanted to help others.  She served as an EMT for many years and donated gallons of blood for the Red Cross.  Linda was a member of the St. Paul Country Club for several years, winning many tournaments and titles.

Survivors include her husband, Gary of St. Paul; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Kelli Sidel of Draper, Utah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Staci and Jess Rother of St. Paul and Jessi and Kyle Tebo of Lincoln; parents, Richard and LaVonne Nielsen of St. Paul; seven grandchildren, Emma and Dane Sidel,  Devyn, Daltyn and Damyn Rother, and Chase and Trey Tebo; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dayla and Jerry Steiner of Omaha, Deb and Dave Scheer of Lincoln and Lori Nielsen of St. Paul.
