Marvin E. Glinsmann

          Marvin E. Glinsmann, 83, of Ashton died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

          Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Reverend George Matthews will officiate.  Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with military honors by the Ashton American Legion Post #108.

          Visitation will be on Sunday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the church.

          Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

          Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

          Marvin was born March 3, 1934 in Ashton to Erick and Make (Dane) Glinsmann.

          He attended school in Ashton, graduating in 1951.

          Marvin worked construction in Kearney until 1956 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving until 1958.

          He was united in marriage to Norma Priest on June 17, 1956 in Red Cloud, NE.  They spent over 60 years of marriage together.

          After his military service, Marvin farmed with his sons in Ashton until the time of his death.  He also drove the school bus in Loup City.

           He anticipated receiving the spring seed catalogs so he could study what to order for the planting season in the garden.    Marvin also had a love of Oliver and Farmall tractors.

          Marvin was baptized in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City.

          Survivors include his wife, Norma of Ashton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Neil Glinsmann of Ravenna, Wayne and Sarah Glinsmann of Columbus and Warren “Smoke” and Nancy Glinsmann of Ashton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharlene and Paul Danson of Lincoln and Lori Glinsmann of Hastings; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Helen Priest of Hastings, Loraine McNeice of Cottage Grove, OR and Marilyn and Fred Davis of Walterboro, SC.

          He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin and his wife, Crystal Glinsmann; two brothers-in-law, Gerald and Dean Priest and a sister-in-law, Wanda Priest.
