Phillip Snell Obituary

       

            Phillip A. Snell, 60, of Grand Island passed from this life on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

            A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Reverend Donnie Halbgewachs will officiate.  A family burial will be held.

            The family requests that people dress in celebration of life attire including Husker or Dallas Cowboy gear.

            Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

            Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

            Phillip was born on October 10, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to William H. and Kathryn (Fox) Snell.

            Phillip was raised in Hastings and attended Hastings Public Schools where he graduated in 1977.  He attended Central Community College in Hastings taking Hotel/Motel Management.

            He worked for a number of years at Bonna Villa and then at the Grand Island Mall.

            He was united in marriage to Paula Powers on March 14, 1997 in Grand Island.

            Phillip worked at the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Grand Island for 20+ years until his retirement.

            He loved to watch Nebraska and the Dallas Cowboys football teams.  He was full of life and had a good sense of humor and he enjoyed spending a lot of time with his wife.

            Phillip enjoyed auto mechanics, rock and roll, dancing, fishing, jammin’ in the garage, being with his girls, all 76 of ‘em and working on different projects.  He was on a pool league team. 

            Survivors include his wife, Paula of Grand Island; six daughters, Lashawnda Elliott of Tarpon Springs, FL., Jamie (Travis) Luhr of Omaha, Marki Campa of Kona, HI, Carrie Knehans of Denver, Corie Snell and fiancée, Devin Richardson and Bailie Snell all of Grand Island; five grandchildren, Benn, Sam and Allison Elliott, Aeryana Luhr and Elijah Richardson and was anticipating the arrival of the 6th grandchild; two brothers, Mark and Billy Snell of Grand Island and a sister, Stella Colgate of Sarasota, FL.

            He is preceded in death by his parents.
