Ruth D. Ivey, 46, of Grand Island formerly of Dannebrog died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Barry Arndt will officiate. Inurnment will be held in the Oakridge Cemetery in Dannebrog.
There will not be any visitation, Ruth's wishes were to be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth was born May 11, 1966 in LaPuente, CA to Raymond and Dorothy (Hilton) Ivey.
She lived with her family in several communities including Fullerton where she received most of her education.
Ruth worked as a cook for most of her life until an illness forced her to retire.
Ruth was a freespirit who was full of energy and always on the go. Her motto was "never given up". She enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, play darts in a league, drawing and artwork and she loved her dog "Sooner". Ruth was an avid Oklahoma fan. She also enjoyed watching the Food Network in hopes of picking up a new recipe or way to prepare a meal.
Survivors include a daughter, Jesse Parada of Grand Island; a son and spouse, Ryan Ivey and Amanda; four grandchildren, Gabriela Parada, Jacob Chambers, Evelynn and Madison Ivey; two brothers and spouses, Robert and Margaret Ivey of Fontana, CA and Randolph and Laura Ivey of Columbus; and a sister and spouse, Rebecca and Shawn Lehn of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
