Albert “Pete” Pedersen, 87 of Cotesfield died Wednesday, July 06, 2016 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. Reverends Shawn Kitzing and Mark Middendorf will officiate. Interment will be in Elba Cemetery in Elba.
Visitation will be on Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice to be designated later.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Pete was born June 8, 1929 in Dannevirke to Vilhem and Inger (Dorcheus) Pedersen. He was raised on the Pedersen family farm near Dannevirke and attended country school at District 35.
He was confirmed in the Dannevirke Lutheran Church.
He worked on the farm early in his childhood and then was employed at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island.
He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Yax on June 10, 1948 in the Dannevirke Lutheran Church in Dannevirke.
The couple farmed near Dannevirke for 60 years and upon retiring in 2001, moved into Cotesfield. Pete moved to Brookefield Park in St. Paul in April 2015.
He enjoyed going to salesbarns during the auctions, playing cards, having coffee, visiting and socializing with friends. Pete loved to be near his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City.
Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Dennis & Sharon Pedersen of Polk, NE and Chris & Teresa Pedersen of Elba; two daughters & sons-in-law, Jeanie & Dick Wooden of Ogallala, NE and Christy & Mick Lassen of Cotesfield; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren with another arriving in the near future; two great great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Clifford & Donna Pedersen of Elba; a god child, Vickie Hughes of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Dennis Rasmussen of St. Paul and a sister-in-law, Vonnie Dzingle of Loup City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Jean on September 25, 2014; two brothers, Carl and Jens Pedersen; and three sisters, Emma Leth, Kristine Pedersen and Lillian Windolph and an infant sister.
