Alice Goettsche, 89, of St. Paul died Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Kati Salmons will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
A time to greet the family will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Matelyn Retirement Community Bus Fund.
Mrs. Goettsche was born January 5, 1922 in St. Paul to Gustaf and Louise (Rasmussen) Nelson.
Alice attended St. Paul schools where she graduated in 1939. She then worked in the local dime store.
She was united in marriage to Bernard Goettsche on November 26, 1941 in St. Paul. The couple moved to Iowa in 1944 where they farmed for a couple of years. They returned to St. Paul where they farmed until 1954 when they moved into St. Paul where they purchased and operated the dry cleaners. In 1970 they moved to Denver.
Her husband, Bernard died on July 18, 1975.
In Colorado Alice worked for Kistler-Qwill Office Supply and she then worked in the quality control department at Lange Ski Company where they manufactured skis. She worked for Shaplars Western Apparel for 12 years in the shipping and receiving department before retiring in 1999.
She moved back to St. Paul in April 2010.
Alice enjoyed volunteering at the Aurora, CO Medical Center. She liked ceramics and music, loved to dance and enjoyed all types of birds.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Paul and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Ron of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren and their spouses, Marla and Tim Wiseman and Ryan and Debbie Goettsche, all of Colorado Springs; three great grandchildren, Brandon, Mason and Camryn and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; two sisters, Phyllis Jones and Florence Goettsche and three brothers, Delvin, Ellis and Franklin Nelson.
