Billie Frances Messimer, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2025, in Brookfield Park, St. Paul, Nebraska. She was born on December 2, 1925, in Wortham, Texas, to the late Harley and Birdie (Poulter) Mitchell.

Billie's life was characterized by love, dedication, and a profound commitment to her family and community. She was united in marriage to Paul Messimer on April 20, 1946, a partnership that spanned many cherished years until his passing. Together, they nurtured a family that embodies her legacy of warmth and kindness.

Professionally, Billie retired from Nabors-Hutcherson Insurance, where her strong work ethic and commitment left a lasting impact. Beyond her career, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, where she found deep faith and built enduring relationships within her congregation. She not only graduated as valedictorian from Hawkins High School in Hawkins, Texas, but also contributed to the national defense industry during World War II. Billie was known for her creative pursuits, including cross-stitching, quilting, puzzles, and her passion for reading.

Billie is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Prante of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and Janey (George) Rutten of Palmer, Nebraska. She is also remembered fondly by her six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren, who have been a source of immense joy in her life.

She was preceded in death by her dedicated husband, Paul Messimer, as well as her parents, Harley and Birdie Mitchell, son-in-law, Terry Prante, grandson, Bill Prante, four sisters, and three brothers. Billie's spirit will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will never be forgotten.
