Cyril R. "Cy" Nagorski

December 10, 1925 — August 17, 2010

Cyril "Cy" Nagorski, 84, of St. Paul died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Library or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Cy was born December 10, 1925 in Farwell to August and Clara (Lukasiewicz) Nagorski.

He was raised on a farm north of St. Paul in the South Logan area. He attended District #42 School through the 8th grade, the 9th and 10th grades in Cushing and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1943.

He entered the U.S. Army in September 1944 at Fort Leavenworth, KS and completed his basic training at Fort Fanning, TX. He served overseas from February 1945 until July 1946 in Italy. After receiving his discharge, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for several years.

Cy was united in marriage to Minnie Allen on November 29, 1947 in O'Connor, NE.
He farmed until 1998 when he retired and the couple moved into St. Paul.

Cy served in the American Legion Firing Squad for several years and served as Howard County Highway Superintendent and Zoning and Planning Administrator for 12 years.

He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and doing yard work. His greatest love was being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119, all of St. Paul.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Blaine and Kay Nagorski of Waukee, Iowa and Ken and Sandy Nagorski of Durant, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica (Ronna) and Keith Christensen of St. Paul and Cynthia and Doug Randall of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Jay Christensen of Sioux City, IA, Jill Lane and her husband, Chad of Ord, Jessica Killeen and her husband Jeff of Iowa City, IA, Jean Marie & Phillip Kelchen of Columbia, MO, Dalton Nagorski of Waukee, IA, Kalin Nagorski of Fort Smith, AR and Kassandra Nagorski of Durant, OK; three great-grandchildren, Owen and Evan Lane of Ord and Brynn Killeen of Iowa City, IA; one sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Joe Kuklis of Cozad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie on February 10, 2009; one brother, Gerald Nagorski, and two sisters, Zeta Nagorski and LaVonne Scarborough.
