Glenda Jeanne (Nickel) Harouff, 75, of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on August 9, 2026. Glenda will be cremated according to her wishes, and a celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
Glenda was born October 9, 1950, to Emil (Dick) Nickel and Bertha (Henry) Nickel in Kearney, Nebraska. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1969. She met and married Robert (Bob) Harouff in 1970, and together they had one daughter, Katheryn. She doted on her daughter and was an excellent mother. Attentive, supportive, and always a good, kind, patient listener.
Glenda was artistic and ambitious. She was an expert knitter, loved to crochet, but nothing really grabbed her attention quite like quilting. Glenda spent years putting quilts together, both for herself and as gifts for her family, creating countless generational treasures. Glenda was an avid reader, and horror and SciFi flick fanatic. She had many other artistic hobbies and pastimes throughout her life, including ceramics, tube-painting, latch-hook, macramé, puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She also refinished wooden furniture intermittently throughout her adult life, and was known to reupholster a couch or two.
But most of all, she loved her family. She was completely devoted to her daughter, her grandchildren, and to her husband. She will be remembered by many as having a kind heart and a sharp wit, always ready with a quick quip to make the room bust up in laughter.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents, Dick and Bertha Nickel; brother, Richard (Butch) Nickel; and her sister, Patricia (Nickel) Baker. Glenda is survived by her daughter, Katheryn Harouff; step-children, Christopher Harouff and Angela (Harouff) Mueller; grandchildren, Mercadies Lieb, Gina Lieb, Alexandra Williams, Erin Magladine, Quinn Harouff, Savanna Harouff, Madison West, Emily Carpenter, Gwen Mueller, Max Mueller; and ten great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
