Glenn Rasmussen, 81, of St. Paul died March 3, 2010 at Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. The Reverends James & Amy Jo Hawley will officiate. Masonic rites will be held by the St. Paul Masonic Lodge 82 AF & AM. Interment will be in South Logan Cemetery near St. Paul. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Medical Center Foundation, the First Presbyterian Church or to the St. Paul Masonic Lodge 82 AM & AF.
Glenn was born May 15, 1928 at St. Paul, NE to Thorvald (T.W.) & Ruth (Gardner) Rasmussen.
He was raised in St Paul and attended rural school and then St. Paul High School where he graduated in 1945. He then attended St. Paul Business College.
Glenn was united into marriage to Esther Birt on October 7, 1949 in Grand Island.
Glenn was engaged in farming north of town. The couple moved to the farm in 1952 where he lived the rest of his life.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the St. Paul Masonic Lodge #82 AM & AF, Farmers Union, the Rolling Eagles of the Eagles Club in Grand Island, Danish Brotherhood #211, KRVN, and St. Paul Co-op Grain where he served as a Board Member. He also was very active in 4-H and FFA with his children.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, turkey hunting, and gardening.
He is survived by three sons & daughters-in-law, Dale & Deb Rasmussen of St. Paul and their children Shawn Rasmussen of Fullerton and Tara & Aaron Buhrman of St. Libory; Gerald & Cindy Rasmussen of St. Paul and their children Jared & Sarah Rasmussen of St. Paul, Jeremy Rasmussen & friend Emily Miller of St. Paul; Richard Rasmussen of St. Paul and his children Adam & Mia Rasmussen, and Denise Rasmussen all of St. Paul & Jessica Rasmussen of Lincoln; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joan Rasmussen & Richard Shearer of Calhoun, MO and children Bobbi & Brad Phillips and Cassidy Burson all of Windsor, MO and Stacy & Chris Dowdy of Osage Beach, MO; Janet & Rodney Gericke of North Platte & 23 great grandchildren; one brother & sister-in-law Daryl & Pat Rasmussen of Seattle, WA; and one sister Francl Jeffres of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Esther on January 21, 2002.
