Jack R. King, 70, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Golden Living Center - Park Place in Grand Island.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. The Reverend Eldon Elsberry will officiate. People attending the service are requested to wear casual attire.

There will not be any visitation, Mr. King was cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Humane Society in Grand Island or the Heartland Pet Connection in Hastings.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. King was born November 2, 1942 in Broken Bow to Reynolds and Velma (Cason) King.

He spent his early years in Hastings where he attended school. He attended Junior High School in Grand Island before moving to Golden, CO where he attended and graduated from high school in 1961. Jack then attended business school.

Jack moved to Grand Island where he worked for Marsay Printing and then for Aguilar Printing, retiring in the late 1990's.

Jack was an avid reading, reading anything and everything. He liked people to bring him papers from other cities. He loved to travel especially in the west and southwest, enjoying the countryside and nature. One of his highlights in traveling was going to see the home of Elvis, Graceland. He loved drag racing, hot rods, target shooting and gun shows.

He enjoyed visiting with people of all ages.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion #201 of Boelus, the Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the NRA,

Survivors include several cousins; close friends, Al and Sandy Simmons of Boelus and their family and his furry four legged companion, Augie.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
