James Edward Plambeck, 79, of Hastings, died on November 11, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska.
He was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Wayne and Pearl (Hayes) Plambeck on May 12, 1946. He grew up in Ansley, graduated from Ansley High School, attended Kearney State College, served in the Army (February 16, 1966 - December 21, 1967), and graduated from Central Community College (Hastings, Nebraska) with an Associate’s Degree in Construction Technology.
He married Rebecca (Davis), on June 8, 1969, in Palmer, Nebraska. He worked in construction, taught Carpentry & Masonry at Central Community College (Grand Island), and worked at Central Community College (Hastings) in the maintenance department, where he retired after 35 years of service.
He was an avid reader, knowledgeable in all trivial things, and enjoyed several Cornhusker sports. He would like all who knew him to have a beer, tell a Cornhusker Football trip story, read a Tom Clancy novel, listen to some country music and have another beer.
Per his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Central Community College Foundation in Hastings, NE. A Private Burial will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer, Nebraska. Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in Palmer is assisting the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Roger Plambeck (brother); Carol & Dennis Joseph (sister-in-law and brother-in-law), Rick & Jill Davis (brother-in-law and sister in-law); and Sam & June Davis (parents in-law).
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; daughter, Melissa; and son, Andrew, all of Hastings, Nebraska.
