Marcia D. Lemmerman (Peterson), of Grand Island (formerly of Palmer), passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at CHI Health St. Francis Center, Grand Island at the age of 82.

Family will greet friends from 10:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home, 411 O St, St Paul, NE 68873. Commission Pastor Janet Rasmussen will offer words of comfort at 11:30 A.M. The family will gather privately for burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer, NE.

Marcia was born on October 21, 1943, in St. Paul, NE. She was the cherished daughter of Albert (Buss) and Ruby Peterson, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in Grand Island and received her education at Grand Island High, graduating in 1962 She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Lemmerman on September 21, 1974, in Palmer. She was a beloved sister to Carol Gardner, Marion (Pete) Medearis, each of whom had also passed before her.

Marcia’s heart belonged to her family. She was the devoted wife of the late Bob Lemmerman, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, adventures, and companionship.

Marcia’s role as a mother was defined by love, support, and guidance. She is survived by her children: James (Kris) Swanson of Little Canada, MN, Barb (Dan) Larson of Palmer, Robert “Bob” (Shelley) Swanson of Reno, NV, and Brenda (Barry) Gierhan of Utica, NE. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren: Nicholas Swanson, Erin (Joe) Grissom, and Amy Swanson of Minnesota, Cole (McKenna) Larson, of Nebraska., Ryan (Callie) Swanson of Nevada, Bronson Gierhan, Braylon (Samantha) Gierhan, Bryant Gierhan, and Brooklyn (Caleb) Horne of Nebraska. Marcia was also a proud great-grandmother to Beau and Aurora Grissom of Minnesota, Brynleigh, Grayson, Jaelyn Gierhan of Nebraska, and expected great-grandchild, Baby Girl Horne. Each of them carries a piece of kindness, warmth, and wisdom forward.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; precious granddaughter, Katelyn Larson; nephew, Thad Gardner, whose memory she cherished dearly. She was a beloved sister to Carol Gardner, and Marion (Pete) Medearis, each of whom had also passed before her.

To those close to her, Marcia was a joyful presence—always eager to share a dance, arrange flowers with care, enjoy a round of golf, or express her creativity through crafting. Her many interests brought her happiness and forged countless connections among friends and family. Marcia’s graceful presence will be deeply missed, her memory cherished by the many lives she enriched throughout her journey.

As Marcia’s family and friends remember and honor her, her legacy will live on in the joy she shared, the bonds she fostered, and the love she gave so freely.
