Mr. Hans Devry

Hans DeVry, 86, of St. Paul died Tuesday, March 04, 2008 near St. Paul.



There will not be any services for Mr. DeVry. His wishes were to be cremated and have his remains spread in the countryside that he loved.



Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Fire Department or to a wildlife memorial in memory of Hans in care of Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.



Hans was born March 9, 1922 in St. Paul to T. N. and Maggie (Gross) DeVry.



He was raised and attended school in St. Paul. Hans entered in the U.S. Army on December 12, 1942 where he served until receiving his discharge on February 14, 1946.



Hans worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island. He also worked for a number of years at Missouri Valley Construction in Grand Island.



Hans was united in marriage to Arline Betkie on March 16, 1963 in Kenesaw.



Hans was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt ducks and geese and just watch the different wildlife in and around the river. He also enjoyed looking for morel mushrooms in the spring.



He was a past member of Duck's Unlimited. He was a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul. Hans served on the St. Paul Fire Department for 50 years.



Survivors include a step-daughter, Kay Carestia and her husband Phillip of Meriden, CT; two step-grandchildren, Michael Carestia and Kristen Rowland; two step-great-grandchildren; two special friends, Diane Bannister and Kathy Lewandowski of St. Paul; and his dog, Shilo.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arline on January 18, 2007; two sisters and one brother.
