Mearle L. Greek, 58, of Wolbach died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Wolbach. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Interment will in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church in Wolbach.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Greek was born December 25, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, NE to Mearl and Ruth (Wolfe) Greek.
Mearle was raised and attended schools in Cedar Rapids.
He was united in marriage to Myrna Rasmussen on December 1, 1968 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belgrade.
The couple moved to Schuyler where he was employed at the meatpacking plant for a total of 30 years. He had a reputation for being the best at working with hides.
In 1994, the couple moved to Wolbach where they purchased the bar. He continued to work in Schuyler for 5 more years.
During this time he also worked for Birko Chemical for 5 years.
Mearle enjoyed all family activities, including his children's sporting activities and get togethers with family and friends. He liked car shows and old cars. He bought and restored a 1957 Chevy. He was good at fixing different items.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna of Wolbach; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Yvonne Greek and Tyler Greek, all of Wolbach and Chase Greek of St. Paul; one daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Todd Ballentine of Hershey; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bill and Carol Greek and Don Greek of California and Harry and Geri Greek of Newman Grove, NE; and five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Alice Hergenroder of Fayetteville, AR, Peggy Miller of Las Vegas, NV, Patsy and Jake Voeller of Goldsboro, NC, Nancy and Lonnie Clement of Wolbach, and Carol Biggs of Santa Monica, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jimmy, Bob and Ron Greek; and a sister, Margaret Nielson.
