Louise M. Leschinsky, 93, of St. Libory died Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Reverend Harvey Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Interment will be in the Wiegert Cemetery near Grand Island.



Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church or to the Howard County Hospital Foundation.



Louise was born May 10, 1916 to in Grand Island to Ernest and Anna (Schmale) Reher.



She was raised on the family farm near Grand Island and attended rural school in Hall County northwest of Grand Island. Louise helped at Reher's Tavern in Grand Island, which was owned by her father.



She was united in marriage to Elmer Leschinsky on February 18, 1936 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island.



Louise was a homemaker. On the farm she enjoyed gardening and canning. She helped her husband with the milking, raising and dressing chickens, and working in the hay and wheat fields.



She had done work as a census taker, served on the District #41 School Board for many years and worked with the Senior Ladies Aid.

Quilting, embroidery work, and baking were Louise's favorite pastimes. She made numerous quilts which she gave to her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing clothes for dolls and for her children as they grew up.



Louise lived in her own home until ill health required her to move to Howard County Community Hospital.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Kathy Leschinsky of St. Libory; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce & Dale Ward of St. Paul and Janet & Jerry McNutt of Chula Vista, CA; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Mader, who was married to Donald Leschinsky; nine grandchildren, Ron and Steve Ward, Sandy Slobaszewski, Wesley, Kevin and Karen McNutt, Sheila Limpach, Troy Leschinsky, and Michael Leschinsky; ten great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Randy, and Roger Slobaszewski, Riley and Kylee Ward, Austin and Cori McNutt, Dylan and Levi Leschinsky and Mikey and Breanna Leschinsky; step great-grandchildren, Josh and Jason Limpach, step-grandchildren, Paul Mader, Loretta Stelk and Debbie Jaukin; step great-grandchildren, Chloe and Reba Mader, Austin and Tyler Stelk and Mason and McKinley Jaukin.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer on September 15, 2008; a son, Donald Leschinsky; a great-granddaughter, Holly; one brother Elmer Reher, and two sisters Irene Krohn and Rose Bosselman.
