Nancy Chipps, 73, of Ord died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia. The Reverend Allan Brown will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chipps was born in the Mira Valley area in Valley County December 18, 1936 to Ross and Lenore (Roberts) Leonard.
Nancy moved with her family at an early age to California where she began her schooling. She returned to Nebraska where she completed her last three years of high school in Ord, where she graduated in 1955.
She was united in marriage to Jon Chipps on August 28, 1955 in Ord.
The couple moved to California where they lived in the Oakland and Santa Monica areas for 12 years.
Nancy worked in banking and in the industrial businesses. From 1960 - 1965 she was a secretary at Convair Astronautics. In the fall of 1967, they returned to the Ord area.
For the past 14 years, Nancy worked as a dispatcher and was a certified jailor for Valley County.
Nancy always kept busy doing sewing, gardening, raising flowers and her family. She liked to collect figurines and loved dogs.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia, teaching adults Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Jon of Ord; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell and Jeana Chipps of Lincoln and Steven Chipps of Ord; three grandchildren, Nick, Raiden and Spencer; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Pat Reding of Roseville, CA and Linda Foltz of Oakland, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
