Phyllis R. Lemburg, 86, of Dannebrog died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo. The Reverend Glen Keylon will officiate. Interment will be held at Loup Fork Cemetery near Boelus. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Phyllis was born May 22, 1923 to William & Christina (Mortensen) Beyersdorf at Worms, Nebraska.
She was raised in Worms and went to school at Zion Lutheran Parochial School. After her schooling, she worked on the family farm until her marriage.
Phyllis was united into marriage to Charley Lemburg on August 12, 1941 at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Worms.
The couple lived on several farms west of Dannebrog where her husband was engaged in farming. Phyllis worked at the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island. They moved to Nysted in 1944 and she took care of the business side of Charley's business working as a bookkeeper and raising their family.
Phyllis enjoyed traveling, cooking and entertaining. Nearly every weekend the couple would go fishing and camping. She also enjoyed playing cards and eating dinner at the Cairo Senior Center.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid in Cairo and a member of the Platte-Duetsche of Grand Island.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard Lemburg and his friend Karen of Dannebrog, Eugene & Barb Lemburg of Aurora and Jerry & Kris Lemburg of Wood River; ten grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Luella & Neal Marco of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charley on November 3, 2008, one son Ronald Lemburg, one granddaughter Kathy Ott, one great granddaughter Stacey Wooters, one daughter-in-law Barbara Lemburg and two brothers Ray & Robert Beyersdorf.
