Ronald E. Dixson

Ronald E. Dixson, 61, of rural St. Paul died September 3, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Joseph Javorsky will officiate. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the church.

Ron was born May 3, 1949 in McCook, NE to Richard C. and Charlotte (Anderson) Dixson. Ron lived with his family in the Hansen and Stamford areas. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1967.

He was united in marriage to Marsha Bose on January 28, 1967 in Stamford. The couple moved to Grand Island where Ron worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and then at the 5 Points Gas Station. Ron and Marsha then returned to Stamford and Ron worked for Becton Dickinson for 5 years. They moved to St. Libory in 1979 and Ron began working for Swift Packing Plant in Grand Island.

In 1990 they moved to a farm south of St. Paul where he farmed until the time of his death along with continuing his employment at the packing plant in Grand Island, working mainly in traffic management at the plant.

Ron had a special love for his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. At family events he loved to take pictures. He liked Nebraska football, Johnny Cash and country music, gardening and traveling.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha, of St. Paul; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Lesa Dixson of Grand Island and Charles and Janet Dixson of St. Paul; two daughters and sons-in-law, Corrina and Joe Lombardo of Billerica, MA and Tami and Jerry Decker of Aurora; 12 grandchildren, Samantha Lombardo of Billerica, MA, Daniela, Jenna and Jillian Dixson of Grand Island, Brandon, Ashley and Amanda Decker of Aurora, Zach Christensen of Kenesaw and Jacob, Kathleen, Jewell and Carley Dixson of St. Paul; one great-grandchild, Wyatt Dixson of Grand Island; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Carol Dixson and Bill and Rose Dixson, all of St. Paul; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Les Bockmann of Palmer; and his mother-in-law, Donna Bose of Beaver City and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Richard Douglas Dixson and his father-in-law, Jay Bose.
