Dick was born near Omaha on December 19, 1931, to Russell and Alice (Suhl) Peetz. At the age of 4, he moved with his family to a farm west of Wolbach. He went to school at Summit for all 9 grades. He went to high school in Wolbach for a short time and then started farming with his dad.
In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Guam for 18 months. Russell came home and started farming. He rented a farm from Art Larson. Later, he bought the farm. He married Joyce Steinke in May of 1959. They lived all of their married lives on that farm where they raised their children, Russell Timothy, Jeanine, and Deann. All 3 children graduated from Wolbach High School. Dick also worked at Kline Garage and hauled many haystacks for neighbors. He was active in the Wolbach American Legion. He loved to dance and play cards. Thus, there was always a card deck nearby when he was around. He looked forward to Sunday coyote hunting, coffee hour in town during the week, and liked to go to the casinos whenever he could.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Jeanine (Alan) Killinger of Wolbach and Deann Dickey (Kelly Prater) of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Russell (Aundrea) Killinger of Greeley, Pat and Danielle Killinger of Wolbach, Jake Killinger of Wolbach, Jared (Jade) Dickey of Lincoln, and Kiersten Dickey (Spencer Mount) of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Hunter, Nash, Wyatt, and Weston; brother, Terry (Jean) Peetz of Wolbach; sister-in-law, Marianne Peetz of North Loup; brother-in-law, Rod Steinke of Republican City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
