Everett Simpkins Obituary

On Thursday, October 9, 2020, Everett Luverne Simpkins, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 101.

Everett was born on May 16, 1919 in Winner, SD to John and Monica (Mether) Simpkins. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado University in Boulder in 1951, and he worked for Boeing, Rockwell International and Northrop Grumman. On September 7, 1949, he married Marilyn Ann Quinn. They raised two daughters, Cynthia and Kristine, and one son, James.

Everett had a passion for investing. He also loved baseball and playing bridge. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Everett served 30 years in the United States Air Force retiring in 1971 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served in WWII and the Korean War. For his service he was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Everett was preceded in death by his father, John, and his mother, Monica and his sister.  He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his three children, Cynthia, Kristine and James, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 23, 2020 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Scotia, Nebraska.  Pastor Jim Garfield will be officiating.  Military Honors will be provided by the Scotia, Nebraska Honor Guard.  Memorials are suggested to Boys Town (14100 Crawford St., Boys Town, Nebraska 68010).
