Lorayne J (Sevenker) Hurlburt

Lorayne J. Hurlburt, 87 of St. Paul, died Friday, February 8, 2019 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul with her loving family at her side.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul.  The Rev. Dr. Russ Anderson will be officiating.  Interment will be in the Arcadia Cemetery at 2:30 P.M on Thursday.  Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers to be designated at a later date. 

Lorayne was born on June 21, 1931 in Ord, Nebraska to Frank and Anna (Urban) Sevenker.  She attended Ord Public Schools.  She was united in marriage to Dale Wesley Hurlburt on January 18, 1947 in Smith Center, KS.  She was a wonderful homemaker and farm wife who diligently raised her three boys until they were in high school.  She worked for B & D in Broken Bow for two years before working for Sell Grocery and Dalby’s Market in Arcadia.  She worked at the Arcadia Public School as a cook for fifteen years.  Lorayne and Dale enjoyed camping and fishing. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles and watching game shows (especially Family Feud).  Her greatest enjoyment was baking and cooking, especially for her family.  Lorayne enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s events, along with watching Dennis and Tim coach basketball and football games.  Lorayne never met a stranger, and those who knew her certainly loved her as a person and friend.  She was a giver, never a taker!  She was a wonderful mother and wife, and took care of her husband when he was ill without a complaint!  Family was EVERYTHING to Lorayne and she NEVER forgot a birthday or anniversary!

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary for nearly 50 years.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and DeeDee Hurlburt of St. Paul and Tim and Diana Hurlburt of Burwell; sister, Mildred Murphy of Ord; grandchildren and their spouses, Jody and Mike Whalen of Kearney, Stacy and James Dugan of Greeley, Nikki and Moses Campos of Grand Island, Adam Hurlburt of Omaha, Leanna and Matthew Pollock of Cairo, Justin and Taylor Brase of Superior, Tami and Shawn Phillipps of Burwell, Brent and Twyla Hurlburt of Norfolk, Clint and Kori Hurlburt of Burwell; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Lorayne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Hurlburt, infant son, Terry; and a stillborn brother.
