Margene was born on October 7, 1943 to Arden and Virginia “Ginny” (Carson) Hathaway in Palmer, Nebraska.  She grew up in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School in 1961.  She was united in marriage to Larry Pavlik on June 3, 1961 in Fullerton, Nebraska.  The couple lived in St. Paul until they moved to a farm in Palmer in 1968.  In 1972 they moved to town where they continued to raise their children and managed the Palmer Legion for several years.  She also worked at the Palmer Café, Wichman’s Cuttery, and the Coolidge Center.  She was a member of the Palmer United Methodist Church and the Palmer American Legion Auxiliary.   She was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed helping with the Legion & Church luncheons.  When Larry and Margene moved to St. Paul, she worked for the St. Paul Grocery Store and continued to cook for various places around the area.   She enjoyed playing pool, bowling, and especially playing BINGO.  Larry and Margene enjoyed gambling and going to dances.  Larry took care of the gardening, while Margene conquered the canning.  She loved people, and she “never met a stranger!”

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Deb & Wayne Kock of Cedar Rapids, NE; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Pavlik of Central City, and Russel & Jennifer Pavlik of Grand Island;  brother-in-law, Norm Jacobsen of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Johnathan (Emily) Kock of Belden, NE, Justin Kock of Norfolk, Joshua Kock (Tonya Balcom) of Norfolk, Mark Pavlik, Jr. (Christina Russell) of Central City, Tyler (Annsley) Pavlik of Central City, SaQuoia Pavlik (Alec Zamarripa) of Grand Island, Sierra Pavlik (Jeff Lutch) of Grand Island, & Shawn Pavlik of Grand Island; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews.
